Local Flavors of the Highest Quality
Sustainability and wellness are two main characteristics that define what La Cusinga Lodge is all about. From the handcrafted wood used to construct the buildings to the lodge’s sustainable practices and preservation of the local ecosystem, La Cusinga is a paradise meant to channel positive energy, relaxation, and well-being to its guests. Nowhere is this more true than at the Aracari Uvita Restaurant, where local and fresh produce is harvested from trees on the property as well as purchased from local farmers. The fish served is locally caught and purchased straight from local fishermen. Using these practices, the restaurant delivers its patrons local, fresh food products that are both tasty and healthy. You can also conveniently enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the open-air dining area while being surrounded by the beautiful scenery and sounds of wildlife.
Macaw Lodge is situated in a remote natural oasis. There are no restaurants or shops in the area. Fortunately, the cuisine, prepared by a local chef and her team, is plentiful, delicious, and nutritious. They incorporate vegetables, lettuce, herbs, and fruits from the garden, along with homemade breads, tortillas, jams, salsas, fresh meats, eggs, and other local Costa Rican delicacies. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are always available, and there is plenty of delicious food to eat even if you have allergies or food restrictions. Breakfast is often buffet style, while lunch and dinner are served at your table in the dining room overlooking the botanical gardens. You can do a little bird and butterfly watching while you dine! Coffee, teas, juices, and water are provided, and you can purchase sodas, beer, or wine from our stocked refrigerator. Both lunch and dinner include three courses: A soup or salad (varies daily, chef’s choice), a hearty entrée, and dessert.
